Summoned by Betjeman (World Premiere)
‘Summoned by Betjeman’ is a delightful, dramatic and often humorous portrait of the poet Sir John Betjeman. It is told almost entirely in his own words and draws on his verse biography, ‘Summoned by Bells’, his journalism, his letters, his broadcasts and, of course, his poems.

The performance is accompanied throughout by a wealth of familiar music – from Elgar, Walton and John Ireland to Alfred Kettelby and Billy Mayerl. Sir John will be portrayed by leading television actor Robert Daws, familiar to audiences for his performances in Outside Edge, Roger Roger, Jeeves and Wooster, Casualty, Mystery of Men, Take a Girl Like You, Sword of Honour, and ITV’s new drama The Royal.
